I woke up Wednesday morning to the following voicemail:
"Holy crap, I almost forgot to say happy birthday, ha ha ha!
Uh, I believe you are 24...right? Yeah 24.
Cause I'm 5 1/2 years older, not 6 1/2 years older...right?
Well, I hope I'm right, because if not I'd be a horrible brother.
Anyway, I love you.
I'm just gonna bring your birthday gift this Saturday, if that's all right with you...well of course it is because you don't have any choice, ha ha ha.
Anyway, I love you. Bye!"
I see how it is.
For the record "horrible brother", you are 6 1/2 years older...and I am the ripe old age of 23.
But after I turned twenty, I stopped counting too.
Good thing I've got sweeties in my life to make even a forgettable age feel special.
My mom drove in Tuesday night, and the three of us stayed up late playing games and talking, as we are prone to do.
As all truly excellent days do, my birthday began with a foot massage.
After I fed Lydie, I came downstairs to find my mom and Kyle in the kitchen making me breakfast.
Lydia really appreciated it.
My mom discovered that the goofy girl likes OJ.

Look at that concentration...just you try prying that cup out of her hands.
And yeah...I sleep in cute clothes. Pretty sure that's my brother-in-law Cory's mission shirt.
Next on the agenda was mani/pedis with my mom.

But I took my sweet time working out, showering, and opening gifts. So spa day has been postponed to Thanksgiving. I think I speak for all mothers when I say that getting to take a long, hot shower and apply makeup without having to pick up your kid after every 3 mascara strokes IS a spa day.
Tawny popped by with a sweet gift and this super yummy cookie.
Then it was on to our surprise destination...
A pottery making class! Kyle had scheduled a 3 hour session of clay sculpting goodness.
*By the way, one of those bags held my camera and another held a bouncy ball. Ha ha. (uh...thanks, honey?)
So I didn't get quite as many presents as this picture would make it seem.
I know it's normal chocolate chip, but there is something to be said for a cake-sized cookie.
None of us could keep our hands off of it.
I felt it was sweet of Lydia to wear her cupcake onesie in honor of my birthday.
She's a thoughtful lass.
Generation Picture
Lydia was the only one aware that this shot was being taken. I think it's a keeper.
Kyle took the day off of school and we left for an early dinner at Paradiso, a beyond AMAZING Mediterranean restaurant. I'm going to go out on a limb for now, and say it may be my new favorite place to eat.

Perhaps the biggest surprise of the evening was how fond of pottery this boy turned out to be.
I've always known that Kyle likes trying new things, but I had no idea he was so into his artistic side.
He's already talking about going back. Cutie.
It was seriously SO much fun having this time away alone together.
Our instructor said we acted like newlyweds.
That's what happens when you get to leave your squeak behind for 4 hours.
I told Kyle not to buy me flowers this year.
But, he always does.
Rick & Rhonda, you raised him right.
My brother and sister drove down on Saturday to celebrate my birthday watch BYU football.
And, of course, to spend time with their favorite niece.
They made it just in time for our ward luncheon.
We spent the rest of the day outside going on walks, playing frisbee, and throwing around the football.
Ohhhh yes.
2 of my very favorite girls, right here.
Lyd got to rock out in her new toy (thank you freecycle) while Steve treated us to Thai food before the big game. And this just in...Lydia LOVES Thai noodles. Probably shouldn't be feeding her that...oh well.
It was a fabulous birthday week. Thank you to all who made it so special!

You always get the best deals off of freecycle. We have the older version of this for Addy. I love it.
P.S. They are like 45.00. We don't have a garage and ours got ruined in the rain. :(
Aw, what a fun birthday date! I love all the pictures.
happy birthday again. looks like fun. p.s. i love the picture of both of your hands in the clay...very "ghost" like:)
Wow i look really into pottery making in those pictures. It actually was one of the coolest craft type things i've ever done. And i didn't feel like it was girly because I got my hands dirty! haha
I had a really good time going out with you on a date. It's not very often we get that alone time now that we have a little one. I love you sweetie!
Aww how fun! I like the pottery making pictures. I think that's kind of like crafting..right? And I thought Kyle wasn't into crafting.. ;) Her exersaucer thing looks so much more fun than ours
Looooove the pottery pictures! And Lydia's smile lights up the world:)! Her grip on the orange juice glass & her determination are very amusing!!
Happy B-day! In the picture of you at the table at the ward luncheon-you look JUST like your mom! I get that all the time and I love it-I hope you feel the same way...both lovely ladies!
Sigh... I think it happened again. Alas my comments are not being published. I think the original one once again had a comment on your beauty, a remark about your adorable offspring (is there a singular form for that word?), and then another birthday wish! Love you!
Pottery scene: can you say GHOST?! If you haven't seen that movie, you need to. I thought we were the same age! anyway happy birthday!
