Meet Spike
Spike has been my Halloween pumpkin since childhood. I took him EVERYWHERE with me throughout the month of October. He was my dentist buddy, my snuggle partner, my backpack stowaway.
And because I'm a nice mama, I decided to let Lydie have him.
Perhaps she wasn't quite ready for such an honor...
"Lydia stop! Do not eat Spike."
"Why mom?"
"Because pumpkins are our friends, Lyd."
I had to show Lydia first hand. So off to the pumpkin patch we went.
"See, Lydie?"
"Ohhhhh, I think I get it, Mom."

This pumpkin patch was incredible. They had hay rides, farm animals, panning for gems, face painting, and our fave, a corn maze.
We got lost...
Lydia got a lot of attention, what with dressing like a pumpkin and all. But we feel this goat was her greatest admirer:
By the end of it all, I do believe Lydie learned to respect the life of a pumpkin and form a kinship with her fellow gourds.
Don't ever say the Osbornes don't teach their kid the important stuff.

Hilarious!!! Does this stuff come to you in your dreams? I have a new favorite picture!! Guess which one;-) So I shared your text message about the kinship with the fellow gourds with my new friend, Sharon Gentry. She replied, "Oh, your daughter likes to play with words"! "Exactly", I replied with a proud smile:)!
Beautiful pictures.. And what a cute little pumpkin you have!
So cute! I love her pumpkin outfit too! and the hairband. She's getting so big too!
Shut the front door! Lydia is the cutest pumpkin ever!!! I am so glad that Spike is still in the family. Mom told me that my other post didn't go through. What a shame, because I wrote a paragraph and cannot remember all that I said. oh, well.
so fun. i just love pumpking patches. p.s. i like your hair half up. its cute:)
Yes, I agree, Lydia in the middle of the big pumpkins should be in a magazine!
Oh I love her face! I heard your mom is coming to Utah this week...do you think maybe you could squeeze Lydia into her luggage???
You guys sure get out a lot! When I first had Jordan it seemed like I never went anywhere, but maybe that's because there is nothing to do in Provo... She is adorable! I love the outfit!
I love that you dressed her up like a pumpkin to bring her to the patch! I have lots of cute scrapbook pages of pumpkin patch pictures from years past...but now I'm too lazy and cheep.
I was eyeing the $3.00 pumpkins at Fresh and Easy...I'm thinking about going back to get them.
But 1/2 the fun is the adorable pictures you got!! Can't get that in a grocery store :)
